This reception will serve as a kick-off celebration bringing women business owners together to explore building relationships leading to contracts and strategic alliances. WEConnect Canada,AWE and other Regional Partners in Canada bring greetings and introductions to their Canadian delegates & US hosts. Astra and WEConnect Canada will talk about the goals for this event.WBENC/WEConnect International WBEs & Corporations are invited to participate as speakers,sponsors, exhibitors & matchmakers. This event is also open to non-WBENC/WEConnect members to attend.

Workshops, Matchmaker and EXPO - March 1, 2012 8:00am-3:00pm

The day will start with opening remarks from Astra and WEConnect Canada outlining the program and goals for the day. Greetings from local community leaders will welcome guests. Morning workshops will present two separate panels discussing best practices of both WBEs and corporations doing business globally and strategies for forming strategic alliances in-country.

Our Keynote luncheon speaker will address the importance of building relationships and the economic programs available to assist businesses in both the US and Canada.

A Matchmaker and EXPO will follow lunch providing opportunities for WBEs to meet with other WBEs and corporations to explore contracting opportunities. Future calendar events will be announced including the schedule for the Astra Global Webinars with further education about best practices of global partnering.

An informal no-host dinner will follow for those who wish to continue building networks and relationships.

Taxes! Since we're either thinking about it, doing something about it or procrastinating about taxes in February, we decided to make February Finance Month at the Centre.

Jean Guy Talbot of Talbot & Associates is delivering two sessions for us in February. In Business Tax - What You Need to Know on February 9 he will talk about what you can deduct, what you rules apply to each of the business structures, how to keep appropriate documentation and so much more.

In Business Success - Increase the Profitability of Your Business on February 16, Mr. Talbot will walk you through philosophies and strategies that will help you to increase the profitability of your business by looking at service and quality rather than price.

Our own Angela Hilland, CGA closes out the month with Introduction to Financial Management on February 23. She will provide you an understanding of the financial basics to help you gain and maintain control of your business.

Our interactive six-part Business Plan Development Workshop Series starts next week. Our team of knowledgeable and experienced Business Advisors lead the series. It starts off with two sessions by Maurice McCarthy, a seasoned entrepreneur. He has a wealth of experience and wisdom in the area of entrepreneurial developmentNancy B and business management and will guide you through the research, exploration and analysis stages of the business plan.

Workshops 2 and 3 focus on marketing and are lead by Nancy Brommell, who spent many years working as a business development specialist in rural Manitoba and
has taught marketing classes at Red River College.
